Were you able to create an External Content Type or create a Web Services data source through SharePoint designer?

I'm working with vSphere 5.1, SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2010 Designer, and I cannot create an External Content Type with the vSphere web services WSDL.

I keep getting a "failed to compile WCF proxy" error. When I enable BCS tracing to determine why the compile failed, I get a "Partial declarations of <element name> must not specify different base classes."

If you're still looking for a way to set this up, shoot me an email at chaselton AT gmail DOT com.

I'm going for my 2003 MCSE. I've got a private, multi-site AD forest set up in VMware Server, with a connection to the public network for internet connectivity. I've got my 5th test on Monday and I'm shooting to complete by end of April, so I don't have any documentation written up but I may be able to help in between studying my ass off.

Here's my question:

I just took the Install and Configure VM Infrastructure class last week and signed up for the exam next Friday. I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that the class, plus my limited interaction with VMI at work won't be enough to pass.

Unfortunately we don't have a VMI lab environment here for me to practice on. We have a production cluster of ESX nodes, but I'm fairly sure it would be a bad thing to experiment on it. Does VMWare have any downloadable or remote accessible lab environments that students hoping to take the exam can practice on?
