When I put the below in plugin-multi-manifest.json, I get the below error while deploying plugin.

Missing plug-in manifest. Make sure that the manifest is present at the plug-in location.

If I put below in the plugin-multi-manifest.json,, plugin deployment works.

Can you tell me why this might be happening?

I am trying deploy my remote plugin on vCenter Server 7.x and 8.x using multi-manifest files. From vCenter 8.0 support for Italian language has beed added. I am trying to do the same with plugin. I have followed guidelines given here for multi-manifest support.

However, I am getting error while deploying the plugin on vcenters depending on the order of manifest files I specify in plugin-multi-manifest.json file.

If I specify manifest file for vCenter 7.x first, then I am not able to deploy plugin on vCenter 8.x and vice versa.

I had verified both the manifest files by separately deploying plugin on vcenter servers.

Attached below is zip file that contains manifest files. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks!

Thanks for this. It was the issue in my API call. I had used vc-guid [hyphen] instead of vc_guid [underscore]

Do you know if we can fetch the vc_guid in the global plugin page using htmlclientsdk? [see attached image]

I know that on object page we get the vc_guid from URL like "VirtualMachine:vm-15:f17d2a70-9cfa-49ee-b5ec-2bd080beb123/summary". But, I want to fetch vc_guid from global plugin page.

Clone Session using Python

Hello,

I am trying to clone session from plugin UI to back end using python for back-end development. [basically this]

I've successfully retrieved the clone ticket from vCenter API endpoint and but struggling to clone the session using it.

I've come across this post which details the problem of cloning the session using clone ticket with python.

I've seen in the pyvmomi sample code where there is code to convert python suds cookies over to pyvmomi session cookies. 
The comments in the pyvmomi code note that there is no way to connect to call the CloneSession() function on vCenter through 
pyvmomi without having already been logged in. Is this actually true?

This seems like a chicken or the egg problem. How can I call CloneSession() without already being logged in? 
Because if I could be already logged then I wouldn't need to call CloneSession().

Any suggestions on what course to take to resolve this little puzzle?

If anyone has done the "Clone Session using Python" already, can you please show how to do it?

Verify User's Role/Privileges after cloning the session

Hello,

I could successfully clone the UserSession from VC plugin UI to VC plugin server. [Using this: Ref]

Now, I want to check if the logged in user has certain permissions. I have to do certain action if the user has the below privileges :

// vLCM Privileges

Configure.Configure Service

VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager.Lifecycle Manager: Settings Privileges.Read

Is there any way to do this using the cloned UserSession? Any pointers on this will be helpful.

Unable to clone ticket using /api/ui/vcenter/session/clone-ticket

Hello,

I am following this guide to delegate session authority to the plug-in server.

On the plug-in UI, I got the sessionToken using app.getSessioninfo() method.

When I try to get the session_clone_ticket using REST API endpoint /api/ui/vcenter/session/clone-ticket, I get the following error:

[401] Something went wrong. Check the server logs for more information

Which logs should I check? Can someone please help me debug why I am getting this error.

My POST request looks like this:

Adapter dashboards not showing data if logged in with vCenter users in vROPs

I have installed my management pack on vROPs 7.5.

If I login to vROPs UI using local users (admin user from vROPs VM) I can see data on all the dashboards of my management pack.

If I login to vROPs UI using administrator user from vCenter(administrator@vsphere.local with "My domain" or "All vCenter Servers" as authentication source) or any other vCenter user, I don't see any data on dashboards. I have checked the logs and can confirm that the management pack is collecting data but not able to see on dashboards.

I had created a vCenter user with "vRealize Operations Power User Role" (administrator user from vCenter already had this permission) permission to see if it will make any difference but it didn't.

I have referred this and this doc article.

One thing I noticed is when I login into vROPs UI using administrator user from vCenter and went to Administration > Access > Access Control, I see "Access All objects" field for this user as false and I can not edit it even when I log in with admin user from vROPs VM.

Is this a known issue?

This did not work. I was not able to get anything by using getStoppedResource. I had deleted one VM to check if that will get caught in getStoppedResource but to no success.

Can you suggest some other approach?

I had tried :

ResourceStatus resStatus = adapterStatus.getResourceStatus(resConfig.getResourceId());

to get the collection status of the resource but every time I'm getting collection status as RESOURCE_STATUS_NONE.

Note: I'm trying the above things when I'm creating resources for the adapter.

From what I can gather by looking the code, I think here you are getting ResourceConfig of "Stopped Resource" and then marking it NOTEXIST.

Then shouldn't the code snippet be like this:

if(resourceConfig == null) {

resourceConfig = adapterCache.getStoppedResource(resourceKey);

if(resourceConfig != null) {

changeResourceState(resourceConfig, DiscoveryResult.StateChangeEnum.NOTEXIST);

}

Since, otherwise all the resources state will be marked as NOTEXIST? or is it the case that the line

ResourceConfig resourceConfig = adapterCache.getMonitoringResource(resourceKey);

gives ResourceConfig of objects which has stopped collecting?

Please explain if I'm wrong.

Also if you can share any sources for reading about ResourceConfig, AdapterCache, etc will be very helpful.

Thank you for your response.

I think you mean, loop through all the resources from DiscoveryResult.getResources(String adapterKind) and then remove some of them which are not satisfying some condition.

But, under what condition should I remove the object/resource from discovery result?

There are VMs on which users login, run some processes and after they log out, the processes are still shown in inventory explorer in with RESOURCE_STATUS_NO_DATA_RECEIVING as can be seen in the image attached in question.

If I am missing something please correct me.

I want to remove the resource objects from the inventory explorer of my adapter which has collection status as RESOURCE_STATUS_NO_DATA_RECEIVING. Since vROPs does not immediately remove them, they are getting accumulated and causing a slowdown of the system.

What I'm thinking of doing is checking the collection status of each resource and if it is RESOURCE_STATUS_NO_DATA_RECEIVING, I'll set the collection state as RESOURCE_STATE_NOT_EXISTING which will be removed by vROPS according to this (VMware Knowledge Base).

But when I'm getting the ResourceConfig using getMonitoringResource(ResourceKey), It is just giving me the collection state of the resource using ResourceConfig.getState() but not the status.

The function to get status as mentioned in documentation (vrealize-operations-manager-SDK-70-programming-guide) does not exist which is ResourceConfig.getStatus().

Is there any way I can get the status of resource object? Or any other way I can tackle the problem I'm facing?

I thought of getting resource status for object type Process using ResourceDto object but I could not create the ResourceDto object for the Process Object type.

I'm using vROps SDK version 7.0
