I ran into the same problem with that component.
But I WANT to update that component but that image builder says:
"Downgrades of manually added Components HPE Upgrade Component(900.0.2-1) in the desired Addon HPE-Custom-AddOn are not supported."

The installed component is older then the selected new one because it is for ESXi7 and the new one is the newest for ESXi8.

So I can not upgrade those ESXi from v7 to v8 because I am "downgrading" that hpe-upgrade-component.

I do not know what that image builder is looking for but I assume it is the component name.

Any ideas how to get that new component accepted?

I think you are trying to configure the fc hba from the BIOS of the VM.
That is afaik not possible.
If you need to configure something in the fc hba bios you have to enter the fc hba bios from the host during boot of the host.

OR
Could also be an option.

Hi there

Is it still possible to install an ESXi on a host with a legacy cpu? (I have done it before when Version 6.x or so was current...)
In my case I would like to try the ESXi 8u1a on a ESXi currently running the latest 7u3m whose cpu is not official longer supported on 8u1a.

I think I did it as described in that blog article:
https://thevcave.com/2020/09/09/installing-esxi-7-with-legacy-cpus/

Has anyone done that yet?

Thank you guys

Hello

I am configuring a passthrough GPU in one ESXi.
I followed that guide here:
https://blogs.vmware.com/apps/2018/09/using-gpus-with-virtual-machines-on-vsphere-part-2-vmdirectpath-i-o.html

But there is one question.

Do I need to set the Host Graphic Settings set to Shared or Shared Direct if I use the passthrough GPU?

The blog article mentioned that setting only in the vGPU part.

Thanks for input.

Regards

Windows Server VM / NUMA / ESXi

Hello guys
I need your knowledge.
First of all some stats:

ESXi and vCenter are running the latest version 7.

The ESXi is a 2 Socket machine; 14 pCores per Socket and has 768GB RAM (384GB per Socket).
This should result in 2 NUMA nodes, each 14 pCPU (48 vCPU) and 384GB RAM. Am I correct?

My virtual Machine is a Server 2019, 12 CPU and 24GB RAM. Configured as 1 Socket 12 CPU in vSphere.

I am wondering now that the ressource montior of Server 2019 shows 2 NUMA nodes with 6CPU each.
And and it seems that only the 6CPUs NUMA node 0 running at 100& CPU and the CPUs of NUMA node 1 are almost at idle.

Why is that?
Should'nt the VM be placed by the ESXi into one NUMA Node?
CPU wise and RAM wise it should fit.
Is it the MS OS that splits the CPUs to 2 NUMA nodes?

Thanks for your opinion
