yes that option is there but i was looking for a better formatted data. As the one we get from the gui export is little more of data which again needs to be formatted per requirement.

Thanks for the reply Robert. But we are using custom properties. If you have seen the screenshot it's the custom properties that are applied to the VM is controlling the limit. We don't have multiple BP for different deployment. We have just one base BP which is leveraged using custom properties n extensibilities.

Thanks

Bikash

Hi,

We have a VM1 attached to a logical switch on nsx v. The requirement is to allow port 80(http) for a destination on internet which is some website hosted somewhere. And the website is accessible from an open internet.

For us we have a proxy server(10.20.30.40) to access internet on the VMs. Now since my VM1 is on nsx-v logical switch vlan say vlanX.

When i allow firewall rule as VM1 can access website (abc.com) on port 80(http). It doesnt work.

But when i add the proxy server also in the destination on the same FW rule, the website (abc.com) starts working.

So do i need to have a rule for proxy server as well in place , if my VMs backed by nsx logical switch need to access anything on the internet thru our proxy server?

Also if someone can draw a diagram on how the traffic flow for such scenario will work that will help me understand better.

Thanks

Bikash

So it is mandotory/required to have the port 443 opened to the destination vm esxi node for which we will run the invoke-vmscript/copy-vmguestfile from the source VM. That is what i assume.

That is what i suspect. which i happened to learn before i sent you the last message.

As i test multiple servers and the source VM from where the invoke-vmscript/copy-vmguestfile to the esxi host where the destination vm was hosted , the telnet to that esxi node over 443 from the source vm was not working.

And for the working invoke-vmscript/copy-vmguestfile the telnet to port 443 to the esxi node of the destination VM was working.

And the confusing part was when i used the proxy to open the esxi fqdn on the browser it opened but the telnet was still not working. But when the proxy was disabled on the browser the fqdn of the esxi was not working on the browser & telnet is not working on either case.
