> Specifically, we'd love to know your Host OS, Guest OS, whether 3D is On/Off in your VM, and whether the Guest/Host are using Wayland.

I'll see if I can test the vmx settings, but I can answer these questions first

Windows 10 host, Fedora 38 guest both up to date.

3D is turned on in my VM (nvidia card in the host) and I am using X11 because Wayland support in a VM is still bad. (clipboard does not work which is far more annoying than I assumed it would be)

I did try Wayland due to another non vmware issue I was having and it happened to also lock up the keyboard and mouse after a few minutes. I don't have a reliable way of reproducing the problem however, I've not had it happen for 2 days now.

I do have a case open for this issue.

It's still 4 for me. But that's not really important, still trying to figure out what is causing this behaviour.

I'm curious if there are any common factors other than 'Linux' and 'open-vm-tools'

My VM is using KDE Plasma with X11, anyone running with Wayland or Gnome and also having these issues ?

X11 has become a little wonky since about a week or so as well with subtle freezes here and there.

So is it just Linux VM's that are affected ? It might be an open-vm-tools vs 17.5.0 issue if that's the case.

This sounds very similar to https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Workstation-Pro/Workstation-17-5-0-enhanced-keyboard-driver-problem/m-p/2991913#M183179

Which is why I was actually browsing these forums, VM becomes 'unresponsive' but it's actually running just fine. Just no obvious keyboard/mouse input. Started immediately after 17.5.0 update.

I am also seeing this behaviour but I do not have the enhanced keyboard driver installed.

It appears to be related to the arrow keys and holding one pressed down for too long after a certain amount of time.

The button will remain pressed inside the VM and the VM refuses all other keyboard / mouse input but is not actually locked up.

In my case I could ssh into my vm and reboot it, I'm assuming RDP also works on windows VM's.

This behaviour started immediately after the last 17.5.0 update.
