Hello everybody,

I have one ESX Host, running ESX 3.0.2 version of VMWARE, which has 4 virtual machines configured and running inside.

After a power crash last August, I could not turn on my virtual machines neither connect to the ESX through VI Client 2.0.

When I try to connect using the VI Client, typing the Host IP address, and typing the correct username and password, I receive the error message "Unable to connect".

Connecting to the host through SSH, I tried several possibilities in order to solve the problem:

- I tried to restart the service mgmt-vmware, but after restarted, the vmware-hostd stopped suddenly.

- I tried to restart the service vmware-vpxa, but when I try any command for this service, I receive the error message: vmware-vpxa: unrecognized service

- I checked the folder /var/log/vmware/vpx and it is completely missing

- I checked the hostd.log file and there is no problem. All the virtual machines are configured and I don't know what type of service or file corrupted during this power crash.

- I tried to halt the system and turn on again after one hour, but no success

When I try to check the state of any of my virtual machines, running the command vmware-cmd <virtual machine path> <virtual machine file.vmx> getstate, I receive the error message: VMControl error -3: Invalid arguments: Login failed.

Thank you very much.
