I'm having a problem with the extension get-tkesnapshotextended to function properly. If I do something like this"

get-vm vmname | get-tkesnapshotextended | select name, vm, sizemb

It works great. However if I just use

get-vm | get-tkesnapshotextended | select name, vm, sizemb

I get no results back. I am using Powershell 2 CTP3 and the latest version of the tookit extensions.

Thanks,

Jason

I've seen this problem in U3 and in previous releases. The first time I had this problem was due to using the EMC Control Center software. It was constantly connecting to all of our ESX systems even though most of our systems weren't set for it. We would get continual failed logins in the hostd.log. It seems that each failure would eat a little more memory and never get released until hostd crashed and restarted. The second time I saw this was because a couple of vms were stuck in a state of reconfiguring themselves over and over.

-jason

Is there an easy way to compare the vmkernel parameters between hosts?
Setting customfields via import-csv

I'm trying to set customfields on some vms. I have a csv file with about 9 rows right now and I wrote the following code:

foreach ($f in (import-csv "vmtest2.csv")) { get-vm $f.Name | set-customfield -name CreationDate -value $f.CreationDate }

It appears to work but it is very, very slow. I'm concerned about how long it might take when I add in 400+vms with multiple customfields that I want to set. Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks,

Jason
