Hi all! I got a VCF - POC request but I'm testing it in a nested lab. My issue is that when Cloud Builder will validate data provided in the configuration file "Bringup" failed with warning at the Time Synchronization Validation step. I got Windows server 2019 as NTP Server and also I went through all the VMware KB to make a Windows NTP server work with ESXI hosts and CB. I noted that when I "RETRY" some hosts accepted the windows NTP server but others don't, if I "RETRY" again all host rejected including the cloud builder appliance which never accepted Windows NTP server as NTP source. I already manually configure NTP servers on the cloud builder appliance by vi /etc/systemd/timesyncd.conf & Add timeservers under [Time]

vm-cb = My VMware Cloud Builder Virtual machine.

AD-DC-1 = ADDC, DNS, DHCP & NTP

ITSA.CLOUD = My domain name.

Time Synchronization Validation Warning

Host 'b'vm-cb'' reject or unable to use NTP server ['AD-DC-1.ITSA.CLOUD'] as source.

Host 'b'vm-cb'' and NTP ['AD-DC-1.ITSA.CLOUD'] sync offset +602743 seconds (Expecting 30.0 seconds)

Host 'b'vm-cb'' and NTP '172.16.31.2' time drift >30.0 seconds

Host '172.16.31.101' reject or unable to use NTP server ['AD-DC-1.ITSA.CLOUD'] as source.

Host '172.16.31.102' reject or unable to use NTP server ['AD-DC-1.ITSA.CLOUD'] as source.

Host '172.16.31.103' reject or unable to use NTP server ['AD-DC-1.ITSA.CLOUD'] as source.

Host '172.16.31.104' reject or unable to use NTP server ['AD-DC-1.ITSA.CLOUD'] as source.

Host '172.16.31.104' and NTP '172.16.31.2' time drift 60271.447964668274 seconds (Expecting 30.0 seconds)

Hardware: just one physical server with ESXI 7.0 and VCF 4.1

288 GB RAM

4 TB HDD

Any help would be very appreciated!

With VMware vSphere Essential you don't have that much to chose from but if you upgrade to
VMware vSphere Essentials Plus you can take Advantage of:

1. VMware High Availability (VMHA)
When a physical server goes down or loses all network connectivity, VMHA steps in and migrates the virtual guest machines off of that server and onto another server. This way, the virtual machines can be up and running again in just the time that it takes them to reboot. (At least 2 ESXi host systems)

2. vSphere Data Protection (VDP)
vSphere Data Protection is a backup and recovery solution designed for vSphere environments. can be deployed to Virtual Machine File System (VMFS), Network File System (NFS) and Virtual SAN datastores. Virtual machines can be restored to a different location and/or renamed as part of the restore process.

Where you buy it?

LINK: VMware vSphere Essentials Kits - Official VMware Store

Raul.

VMware VDI Administrator.

http://ITCloudStream.com/

Stay Connected :smileyplus: Don't forget to:

Like > Share > Comment > Reply > Helpful > Answered

if you don't have a KMS activation server, then You need a Volume Licensing (VL) for Windows & Office

An extremely complicated concept to understand is Microsoft Licensing in general. If you’re trying to properly license virtual desktops running Windows, your level of complication just multiplied. Volume Licensing (VL) programs are based on either a user or a device, depending on the software of course. You’ve also probably heard of VDA licenses. VDA means “virtual desktop access.”

TRY THIS:

When installing Windows 10 you can use one of the KMS client keys found at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612867(v=ws.11).aspx

After you have installed the View Agent as part of your Parent Image, open the registry editor and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\vmware-viewcomposer-ga

Here you will find an entry for SkipLicenseActivation. Change this from 0 to 1.

Your Windows 10 desktops will now provision.

Raul.

VMware VDI Administrator.

http://ITCloudStream.com/

Stay Connected :smileyplus: Don't forget to:

Like > Share > Comment > Reply > Helpful > Answered
