ok, thank you!

it was just a video driver issue with the 6.x.x versions of Horizon View.

I tested by uninstalling the svga driver only from manage pc.

Catia worked great.

Then I downloaded vmware tools 10.0.5 which had the fixed drivers and installed those.

8.1.5.3.3 driver fixes video driver issues with versions of 6.x.x Horizon view.

Samsung Zero clients have the firmware to integrate with an Imprivata solution.

I use quite a few Samsung Zero clients, would like to put in Imprivata someday, but some $$$ right now.

actually, the teradici 2 chipset supports Imprivata integration, so a wide range of zero clients.

THIS WILL FIX YOUR ISSUE 100%

When MS came out with Windows 10, they kinda unfriended Windows 7.

KB3135445 MUST, MUST be installed after you load up new version of Windows 7 SP1, or you WILL NEVER get updates!

could be any number of issues as other posters have said.

This could be an antivirus agent, dns, etc.

also, a corrupt persona also is something to check.

rename your current persona on your persona server, and try to log back in with same credentials and see what happens.

another more drastic approach is to uncheck the remote printer deal during install of the 32/64 bit Horizon View agent.

This also works, but you lose the capability to have a locally connected printer if running from a standard PC or from home via your security server.

6.2.1 and Catia issue

We run Catia to open files from customers. Have a shared license server and everything works great on 5.2 Horizon View.

But, Im moving over to 6.2.1 and the new drivers for both Vmware tools and 6.2.1 agent dont allow Catia to even start up.

running PCoIP on Samsung Zero clients in a floating linked clone pool.

I think its a display driver issue maybe.

Is it possible to run my older agent and make it work on 6.2.1?

I read about TLS1.0 and making some regedits, so 6.2.1 can talk to older client/agent, but not sure if I want to go down this route.

Just throwing out some ideas and seeing if anybody else had simliar issues with 6.2.1.

(I'm using a Chromecast dongle on a TV and sending over the full screen on linked clone (Samsung Terra 2) via Google Chrome; very small arrow allows you to share whole screen.)

Windows Key and than 'P' will allow you to select "projector mode" which will turn off the second screen, if this is what you are looking for.

You can than use Windows Key and P and go back to extended screens.

hmmm, just actually read the post and noticed you have a Mac, sorry but if you want to try this on a PC it works well.

Linked clone / floating pool

Microsoft IE settings (Favorites and such) are persistent, but Google Chrome is not upon log off of a linked clone from a floating pool.

I have the pool setup to delete the linked clone upon log off as well.

How can I make the Google Chrome settings persistent.

I need to have a "Chrome Extension" stay with a user after its added, but its going away upon log off.

I tried adding the extension to the master image but no good.

Good news, thanks for everybody checking.

This was a critical issue for us in a corporate environment as we have to adhere to our own security rules regardless of if we believe something is not true. The severity of a zbot Trojan on a master image could literally destroy everything for us and crash our entire Horizon View environment.
I had opened a ticket with DELL the same day this issue was discovered with the file and/or website and/or the plugin button for the download used for this file from the labs.VMware website.
We were not sure if a round robin was going on with the download button pointing to download1, download2, download3...and so on. But we were consistently being redirected to download3.

The combination of having to agree to "not use in a production environment", and the Trojan warning set off some serious red flags for us.

It looks like either Dell has whitelisted this for their SonicWall customers or something was fixed at VMware.

As of 9/10/14 I can now download the file behind our "Gateway Antivirus Service".

Another workaround is simply to NOT install (uncheck) the virtual printer deal in the 'view agent' installation on the master image. this will allow you to install printers and the DEFAULT printer will not change, but remain persistent.

Is there a version of the 'Optimizer Tool' that is certififed for production?

Hi, just wondering if there is a copy of the Optimizer Tool that is VMware certified for production use?

I would like to use this tool for the 1st time since it shows up in a many discussions, but hesitant since VMware explicitly warns against optimizing a master image with this tool for production.

Thanks, let me know if the production version is located somewhere other than the labs site.

I am extremely careful with my master images and never experiment with them or use or follow any steps not outlined by VMware directly.

I opened a ticket with Dell/Sonicwall that is reporting the detection.

I personally cant download the tool because of the detection but it looks like you are not having any problems.

If you don't use a Dell/Sonicwall then everything should be good.

Its funny that the sonicwall is detecting a Trojan from the labs website on a tool that you would run on all of your master images, but when I downloaded other tools from the same labs.vmware website it did not block them and detect a Trojan.

According to my Dell 4500 NSA series firewall, and its subscription services, this link https://labs.vmware.com/flings/vmware-os-optimization-tool has the ZBOT TROJOAN when clicking on the RED hyperlink to download the file.

WARNING DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR CLICK ON THE RED HYPERLINK UNTIL SOMEBODY AT VMWARE CAN EXPLAIN.

until then, I am going to trust my Dell 4500 NSA series firewall and its subscription services and not ever download this file as it could infect my master images and push Trojans out to all of my linked clones.

This was stopped by my firewall scanning for viruses 'on the wire' when attempting the download and not via my antivirus software on my client.

WARNING WARINING WARNING

Clicking on the download link for this tool on 9/5/2014 and my firewall stopped the download and reported the file is infected with a ZBOT Trojan. I HIGHLY recommend NOT RUNNING or downloading this tool until somebody at VMware explains this. DO NOT RUN THIS on any master image or you may be installing a Trojan for all of your linked clones or other guests!.

I have a R720 with a 710P.

This is my second R720 with same raid controller, but I just fired this up yesterday and it is going back and forth to "Parity Check in Progress" Warning for all of the 16 drives I have installed.

It clears up, and then the parity check comes back..............

Have you resolved the parity check in progress error yet? if so, what was the resolution.

I don't know what my solution is yet since I don't know why this is occurring.

that solved it!

What had thrown me off, was that I had to use the web interface to get the bridged usb devices screen. I thought it would be in the bios settings from the main screen of Samsung/Terradici 2 device.

But this took about 2 minutes to resolve with the instructions you provided:

1.) Went to the admin screen via web interface.

2. looked at "info" and wrote down the VID and PID

3.) added the this to a "bridged usb" device

4.) restarted PCoIP session

5.) done

I can now authenticate to the web page I have to go to using a USB token and all is good.

Aladin eToken Pro Anywhere and Safenet application with a Zero Client running View

We use these blue etoken USB keys to authenticate to websites (not log into VMware).

All other USB devices I plug in to the Samsung zero client work, but the etoken is not visible and not seen by the "Safenet" application.

I can use this on a normal PC, but cant seem to make it work on a Zero client with a linked clone.

Ok, this is where I'm at today:

Reverted my floating linked clones to use 'no' 3D; turned off the use of the Nvidia Grid card on my pools.

I have extremely limited use of the Grid card, but my initial observations are:

1. The card makes a major difference in small Solidworks assemblies.

2. Large assemblies, it starts to '@#$#'; out...............wireframe does not work as expected and some buttons fail according to the engineer using Solidworks

3. Solidworks Tech Support does not support any type of virtualization; you are on your own.

I'm heading down this path:

1. No Grid card. I am not getting consistent predictable behavior.

2. I will focus on using SSD (or PCI SSD...fusion io) drives for the for the floating linked clones.

Solidworks 2012 - Dell R720 Nvidia K1 Grid GPU Samsung Zero Cleint / Teradici 2

Background:

Just fired up an R720 with a Nvidia K1 Grid installed.

Having one of our Engineers test a complex assembly using a Win 7/64bit VM configured to use 512meg vram with the K1 GPU.

Previously, the same Engineer was using the same pooled VM without the 3D hardware setting in the pooled linked clone.

Results:

With a complex assembly, the engineer is trying to turn on 'wireframe' but it is only showing a wireframe for a sub-assembly and not the whole assembly.

These are not the expected results.

Next Step:

I will create another pool and have it point to software only 3D (no gpu), and measure results.

- I am aware of the white paper table provided by VMware and different versions of Solidworks with 3D GPU
