My guest operating system is windows xp service pack 3. I tried to copy files from guest operating system to my host system. Its failed. Even failed to copy from host to guest too. I thought that file transfer might be disabled. I checked VMware setting--> options tab--> guest isolation-->drag and drop / copy and paste grey out. Can't check and uncheck the box. I've attached the image file below.

How to solve this problem?

Hi woodyz,

Thanks for your kind information. I've installed the VMware workstation in my window 7 with no issue. The problem is i can ping the IP from my host(laptop windows 7 i.e. VMnet1) to XP OS(Vmware), but i cannot ping the IP from XP OS to my Host OS(windows 7). Then i selected Host only option from network adapter settings

and tried to ping the IP from XP OS to my Host OS(windows 7), still problem remains i cannot ping. I tried in NAT also i cannot ping. i've done the testings with firewall off in both my host and guest. what is the problem?

Thanks.

Hi,

I would like to workout FTP protocol, sending and receiving files between two machines. Since i dont have two machines, so i like to use VMware workstation. Im using VMware workstation 6.5.1 build-126130 in my laptop windows 7 Home basic. In VMware workstation i've installed windows XP OS. So my VMware has only one os i.e. XP. Now i want to create a virtual network between my laptop windows 7 to VMware XP OS. Is it possible? If it is possible, how to configure the VMware network settings to achieve FTP protocol?

Thanks
