If is it a routing issue? Maybe, but still don't know here.

But the main problem here is if both are enabled then there is no eth0 network. If I disable eth1 then there are no issues with eth0 routing. This is the main issue here.

PS: Same VLAN / Subnet is used for vCenter, ESXi hosts. Same network, same Virtual Switches/Ports no issues with routing.

If using as a single standalone vCD no need to do that. As you said, is not in use.

So routed traffic will egress via gateway IP of Eth0. By default, ETH1 is used for database replication. This is the reason you are not able to access or getting packet drops. Why do you want to reach Eth1?

Hi Screec,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I know how eth0 and eth1 works.

Like I said, if eth0 and eth1 are enable, eth0 stop working. Only eth1 is reachatble, if I disable eth1, then eth0 is reachatble. And yes yes has a Glocal gateway.

Also I know that we can change IPs, gateways etc, using vami sripts.

And I have move vCDs and even with differnt subnets, both are reatachable. But is not my concern here, but the issue that if both network interfaces are enable I loose connection to eth0.

I only have this issue, in this vCenter with this ESXi hosts. That is why I am trying to understand where is the root cause of this (physical? virtual networks?, vCD networks?)

I have try deploy 10.2, 10.0, even a 9.7 I always get this issue.

Is a very strange behavior.

Hi all,

I have a stupid and specific issue in one of my environments and just like to know if any have seen this.

As information, we have around 5 vCD in our environments.

Install a new vCloud Director 10.2.2 (also tested with 10.2) and I can reach eth0 if eth1 is up. If I disable the network in the eth1, eth0 is reachable. If I enable eth1, then IP on the eth0 is not reachable and only eht1 is reachable.

In the beginning, I was using different subnets, but then I try in the same subnet, and I still have the same issue.

This is really strange behavior and I cant see where is the problem.

I thought this could be a bug in the latest vCD, but I try 10.2, same issue.

Mainly I cant have both network interfaces in the appliance enable.

I dont have this problem in any of the other vCD(not running on the same vCenter/ESXi hosts).

Hi all,

What is the difference between an NFS Share for 9.x and 10.x?

Because the same file share it works on 9.x implementations, but when I try to use it on 10.x I get:

"Unexpected permissions on file /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/data/transfer/xyz while performing operation: touch xyz.
VM Windows: VM Test 001 with TAG

VM Linux: VM Test 002 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (32-bit) NO TAG

Maybe I could reduce some lines and differently, but my knowledge only get until here

After I will replace the lines with the text (NO TAG, or WITH TAG) with a line to add a TAG to the VM without a TAG.

Because in the first time I run the script no VMs have TAGs, but after running the same script one time a month, it should only pickup VMs with no TAGs and then add a Guest OS TAG.

Thank You again for the help

NW

Hi Zik

Thanks for your reply.

Your reply did put me on the right track and had some ideas how to do it

This is what I have until now

$vms = Get-Cluster "Cluster test" | Get-VM

    $vmview = $vm | get-view

    If

        ($vmview.Summary.Config.GuestFullName -like "*Windows*") {

        Write-Host "VM Name: " $vm  "Windows VM"

        #New-TagAssignment –Tag "Windows"

        }

    elseif

        ($vmview.Summary.Config.GuestFullName -like "*Linux*"){

        Write-Host "VM Name: " $vm " Linux VM"}

        #New-TagAssignment –Tag "Linux"

    elseif

        ($vmview.Summary.Config.GuestFullName -like "*CentOS*"){

        Write-Host "VM Name: " $vm " Linux/CentOS VM"}

    else {Write-Host "No Changes "}

Now I am struggling to check if a specific TAG is already created, if not it will creates.

Still testing:

Foreach($Tags in $Tag) {

if ($Tags.Name -notlike "*Linux*" )

{

Write-Host "No TAG Founded"

New-Tag –Name "Linux" -Description "VMs System Operation TAG" –Cardinality single –EntityType VirtualMachine

Write-Host "Tag Linux Added" | Select $tags.Name

}

else {Write-Host "TAG"}

}

But I discover that New-Tag and New-TagCategory works in different PowerCli versions.

Hi

I am trying to get a list of Guest OS VMs and then change something.

I see some examples where I can use the Get-VM and also Get-View for both cases.

Example:

get-vm | Select Name,@{N="Configured OS";E={$_.ExtensionData.Config.GuestFullname}},@{N="Running OS";E={$_.Guest.OsFullName}}

or just

Get-View -ViewType VirtualMachine -Property Name,Config.GuestFullName  | %{

    New-Object -TypeName PSObject -Property @{

        Name = $_.Name

        GuestOS = $_.Config.GuestFullName

    }

} | Select Name, GuestOS

Using a filter( -Filter @{"Config.GuestFullName" = "Windows*"} ) or not to list the proper Guest OS type.

But what I need, and I am not able to do is, using with the Get-View or Get-VM, removing the filter, and in a foreach check witch VM have Linux or Windows, then do an action after found the type of Guest OS.

For example, add a TAG like this: New-TagCategory –Name "Windows" -Description "VMs System Operation TAG" –Cardinality single –EntityType VirtualMachine

I can run everything individually and works fine, but my problem is to put everything in only script and with a condition for each type of Guest OS

Thanks in advance for any help.

NW

Hi all,

After some troubleshooting I have check the same LUNs were presented to other vCenter and hosts.

After removing and set the proper permissions and configurations, we can see the LUNs again in devices, and also if I try to add a Datastore the LUNs are visible to add again(only as new).

Normally the hosts should pick up the datastore and put online and available, but for some reason they did not, so if I try to add the LUNs again as a Datastore this will reformat and destroy all data(there is still VMs in it), so my question is, how to add the LUNs again without formating them??

One example:

Hi a.p,

Thank You for your reply.

OK understood the zero sized LUN. Not here, because all have their normal size and LUN ID.

Is a little bit different in VMAX. In my opinion VNX is easier.

But there is IQN Groups and Mask Views.

In simple terms

IQN Groups = hosts vs iqn

Mask Views = Were Storage Groups will be visible.

So there is 2 different IQN Groups(divided by hosts like are in clusters in the vCenter)

2 different Storage Groups(the old ones and new the ones that was created)

So each Storage Groups is set to each iqn groups(one Storage groups can have both iqn groups) or Mask View can have both iqn Groups.

Don't know if I explain in a way to understand.

NW

Could that account been lock already because of several attempts??

Also try with both ways(don't use for now "Use Windows session authentication") using DOMAIN\USERNAME or USERNAME@DOMAIN.

The only time that I see this behavior was not using the proper user name vs domain, or the AD Source was not set as default.

Using integrated windows authentication is to set by default on the vCenter installation. Like I said before, you should choose LDAP server and the proper port and Base DN.

NW
