I have no idea what to call this but I'm hoping a few smart people can point me in the right direction.

What must be done to have Site A see an IP address at Site B?

I would like to visit (Site A) and connect to a Horizon View Desktop, in a different location (Site B).

How can I have the horizon desktop at (Site B) SEE and have bi-directional communication with a 'local ip address' at (Site A) ?

This is special software that communicates with Grand Format Printers.

As an example, with Epson Printers, I can install a generic text printer driver, setup with the IP port of the printer and redirect that driver to the VM and the Application can SEE, Status, Ink Levels, Paper config, etc. And of course the Application can Spool jobs to the device.

Some devices don't work with Printer Drivers and need to communicate directly with the Device, via IP.

Another way of saying this is, Go to work and connect to a machine in your home lab. Now how can you have a Lab application SEE an IP address at work.

I would like to add code to a vmx file like this:

cpuid.0.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:1011"
cpuid.0.ebx = "0111:0101:0110:1110:0110:0101:0100:0111"
cpuid.0.ecx = "0110:1100:0110:0101:0111:0100:0110:1110"
cpuid.0.edx = "0100:1001:0110:0101:0110:1110:0110:1001"
cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:0111:0001"
cpuid.1.ebx = "0000:0010:0000:0001:0000:1000:0000:0000"
cpuid.1.ecx = "1000:0010:1001:1000:0010:0010:0000:0011"
cpuid.1.edx = "0000:0111:1000:1011:1111:1011:1111:1111"

but that would expose the AVX2 feature of my AMD 5950x Processor. I think the code is masking the AMD Processor. Whatever it's doing works, but I need to be able to see (and use) AVX2 inside a custom Guest

Can anyone provide similar code to try?

Kind Regards

ps I think this represents an older duel core processor that does not support AVX so I need the same syntax but a more modern Intel processor. I know i7-7700k works.

I have 2 Samsung 980 Pros (2TB) drives as local storage in an ESXi host (latest version). Partitions on one of those drives disappeared. (stuff happens)

I would like to use VEEAM to replicate a VM on 980_a to 980_b, for high availability. Both drives are in the same host.

Thing is this vm has a Quadro RTX400 passed thru from the host.

Historicity, Snapshots are not allowed with PCI devices connected to a VM.

Given that, how can I do this? It's not about VEEAM is about the Snapshot. Without having to MANUALLY remove the PCI device EVERY time.

That was back in the olden days, shortly after man discovered fire.

Fastforward to today and where mankind has invented x64 emulation on ARM x64; allowing my Surface Pro X to run the VMWARE Horizon client 8.4, what has methodology has VMWARE invented to REPLACE that old and outdated pull-down that no longer exist?

FYI Speaking of Surface (and the latest iPad Pro) you can 'actually' swipe the touchpads on both devices to switch between connected VMs.

But alais, today, I whipped out my old, but still trusty Samsung Series 7 Slate (the original Surface), running Windows 11 dev 22509

Yes, I use UAG. I put my external IP address in UAG. I'm test from home lab and don't have a pubic IP address. So, I've been using the external IP assigned to by Cable company (business class router)

I don't think you can use an iP address for the certificates... can you?

I use to use the free dyndns.org (but there not FREE anymore <smile>

you could get somenameachoose.dyndns.org and assign it to your external IP address.

Also, I just checked and It appears that anything greater than macOS < 10.12.1 will not trust letsencrypt.org's Certs (Per their FAQ.. I'll be using Monterey (OS X 12)
