So forgive my lack of knowledge on this matter but im trying to narrow down my direction so I can better address my concern. So we use a backup software xyz, have a vmware environment SITE A PROD and Site B DR (using SRM).

Whenever I restore a FULL VM with essentially deletes it from disk and restores a new one with a new GUID, thus showing as "invalid" in SRM. THE GUIDs no longer match. Is there any method from a SRM perspective (REST API) to help me to update the VM GUID after the restore? Or any other option?

Appreciate the time and support.

Look at the workstation and it also complained that couldnt start due to the SMB2.0.

Enabled the SMB 2.0 through the command line sc config mrxsmb20 start= demand then was able to start Workstations service THEN was able to start VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Server.

Just got a MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 computer and as I used to use HP with Windows 10, I am looking for info on migrating Windows 10 to Mac. I do have an VMware Fusion 10 Pro License and already installed on the Mac. So far so good.

Looking at the link (Migrating a Windows PC to Run in VMware Fusion) which BTW doesn't seems to be updated since Page 2 Section 2.a and b doesnt reflect my Mac. File sharing isnt really where the article refers to, but anyways....

I downloaded VMware vCenter Converter Standalone from the link provided on the article, installed on Windows 10 and once it finished and tries to run, error below shows up....(attached).

Any idea of why I cant initiate the service? I`m running TrendMicro AV which was disabled during the install process. Is there any up to date article out there that helps migrating my Win10 to Mac with Fusion?

Thanks in advance.

Some Logs

2018-05-07T13:16:00.148-05:00 Section for VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client, pid=6608, version=6.2.0, build=7348398, option=Release

2018-05-07T13:16:00.148-05:00 verbose converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Dumping early logs:

2018-05-07T13:16:00.148-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Logging uses fast path: false

2018-05-07T13:16:00.148-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] The bora/lib logs WILL be handled by VmaCore

2018-05-07T13:16:00.148-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Initialized channel manager

2018-05-07T13:16:00.148-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Current working directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] ThreadPool windowsStackImmediateCommit = true

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[03248] [Originator@6876 sub=ThreadPool] Thread enlisted

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[07676] [Originator@6876 sub=ThreadPool] Thread enlisted

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=ThreadPool] Thread pool on asio: Min Io, Max Io, Min Task, Max Task, Max Concurency: 2, 200, 2, 10, 2147483647

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[03692] [Originator@6876 sub=ThreadPool] Thread enlisted

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[10280] [Originator@6876 sub=ThreadPool] Thread enlisted

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=ThreadPool] Thread enlisted

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Using locale for help and translations 'en_US'.

2018-05-07T13:16:00.164-05:00 error converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Unable to load 'en_US' translation.

2018-05-07T13:16:00.195-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Use GUI font 8 with correction 1.

2018-05-07T13:16:00.273-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Libs] FILE: FileCreateDirectoryRetry: Non-retriable error encountered (C:\ProgramData\VMware): Cannot create a file when that file already exists (183)

2018-05-07T13:16:00.273-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Libs] FILE: FileCreateDirectoryRetry: Non-retriable error encountered (C:\ProgramData\VMware): Cannot create a file when that file already exists (183)

2018-05-07T13:16:00.289-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Libs] FILE: FileCreateDirectoryRetry: Non-retriable error encountered (C:\ProgramData\VMware): Cannot create a file when that file already exists (183)

2018-05-07T13:16:00.289-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Libs] FILE: FileCreateDirectoryRetry: Non-retriable error encountered (C:\ProgramData\VMware): Cannot create a file when that file already exists (183)

2018-05-07T13:16:00.289-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Libs] FILE: FileCreateDirectoryRetry: Non-retriable error encountered (C:\ProgramData\VMware): Cannot create a file when that file already exists (183)

2018-05-07T13:16:00.289-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] Vmacore::InitSSL: handshakeTimeoutUs = 20000000

2018-05-07T13:16:00.289-05:00 info converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=ConverterImpl] Converter session created.

2018-05-07T13:29:15.215-05:00 verbose converter-gui[07616] [Originator@6876 sub=ConverterSession] Converter::Client::Gui::Wizard::ConverterSessionImpl::Login - Connecting to remote server localhost as XXXXXX

2018-05-07T13:29:15.217-05:00 info converter-gui[03692] [Originator@6876 sub=BaseServerConnection] Connecting to server on host localhost on port 443.

-->
VMware ICM 6.5 VLC (Online Training) - Insatisfaction

First of all I want to apologize if this is in the incorrect place, I just could not see any where else to post. If needs to be removed, please let me know the correct place.

I have a interesting situation right now that some of you may have gone through this or perhaps can help with your point of view. I am currently attending an VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.5] Online format (VLC - Virtual Live Class). Today was my first day and I had a couple of highlights I wanted to shared;

1- Training was supposed to start at 9AM according to the Training Center who provided an Skype link. At 8:45AM myself and other two students were connected. 9:30AM no sign or even an email from the Center, then I called them and 9:35AM the instructor logged to the session.

1.1 - Once instructor connected to the skype session, we started to face voice and video issues, skype call being dropped and video not working properly. 10:25AM instructor and local support were able to fix the problem and the class started.

2- Once the training "finally" started the instructor shared slides and started going through them, which is fine, but after a couple of hours the only thing he was going was reading the slides, not going on the details for any features or functionality and once I asked about UEFI Secure Boot (He didnt know how to explain what that was and asked to look on google) and asked him about the ESXi Versions and limitations which he responded that this question/topic wasnt part of that training then he send me the vmware link. WHAT????

3- Couple hours later he shared the VLAB which I couldnt get connected to and they are still looking into that issue.

I just had a different IT Training around Backup solution which it was GREAT. Instructor very skilled, explaining the content and giving real examples, helping us through the labs etc, not only that, their online class platform using Adobe worked perfectly.

I will not mention names or anything, but my point is around the training quality not only from a logical (labs standpoint) but also from a instructor standpoint. It is fine reading few ppts, but when I can questions I dont want to be redirected to a site and have vague answers....

I would like to know if any of you have seen this or gone through a similar situation with VMware training?

Thanks in advance.
