VIX for VMware Workstation 15

I notice that the new VMware Workstation 15 is out and there is a new REST API mentioned. I also notice in the downloads that the VIX API for that version is not available.

Does this mean that VIX has been dropped in version 15?

To answer my own question, from a reply in a different thread...

VMware VIX is now only supplied with Workstation and cannot be obtained separately (at least at the moment). The VIX version for Workstation 15 is 1.17, the same as for Workstation 14.

VIX has been deprecated since vSphere 6.0 and not used further in any other products. It will probably be removed from Workstation at some point, so I highly doubt you're going to be able to get it any other way from now on.

What do you think the replacement API for Workstation will be in the long term? The new REST API?

That'd be my guess, although it has quite a bit to go.
