Hi,

We have a VM1 attached to a logical switch on nsx v. The requirement is to allow port 80(http) for a destination on internet which is some website hosted somewhere. And the website is accessible from an open internet.

For us we have a proxy server(10.20.30.40) to access internet on the VMs. Now since my VM1 is on nsx-v logical switch vlan say vlanX.

When i allow firewall rule as VM1 can access website (abc.com) on port 80(http). It doesnt work.

But when i add the proxy server also in the destination on the same FW rule, the website (abc.com) starts working.

So do i need to have a rule for proxy server as well in place , if my VMs backed by nsx logical switch need to access anything on the internet thru our proxy server?

Also if someone can draw a diagram on how the traffic flow for such scenario will work that will help me understand better.

Thanks

Bikash
