topic Does Workstation Pro support Intel's 12th Gen i9 CPUs in VMware Workstation Pro Discussions

Greetings,

I've been having horrible lag issues in VMWare Workstation PRO. My system has 64 gigs of ram, an i9 12th gen CPU, and an Nvidia 3090 GPU.

I've been playing around with processors/cores in the settings, and it runs pretty much the same, no matter what configuration I choose. I've got eight gigs of GPU allocated to the running VM and more ram than will ever be used. I can virtualize operating systems on my little laptop better than on my PC.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Systems using processors launched in 2011 or later, except for systems using the following processors.
Intel Atom processors based on the 2011 Bonnell micro-architecture. For example, Atom Z670/Z650 and Atom N570.
Intel Atom processors based on the 2012 Saltwell micro-architecture. For example, Atom S1200, Atom D2700/D2500, and Atom N2800/N2600.
AMD processors based on the Llano and Bobcat micro-architectures.
Systems using the following processors.
Intel processors based on the 2010 Westmere micro-architecture. For example, Xeon 5600, Xeon 3600, Core i7-970, Core i7-980, and Core i7-990.</LI-CODE>

Does this mean my i9 won't work optimally? I just want to make sure I'm reading the correct documentation.

I have a feeling it isn't but I don't know.

My host is a 12700k, 6900 XT, 32 GB RAM and performance is atrocious in Workstation Pro 16.2.4, it's literally unusable, I have 2-3s lag when moving the mouse and what feels like 5fps in a Win 10 guest.

When I disable 3D acceleration it is just terrible instead of unsable but I have spend days to get an acceptable virtualization experience without any success. I'm on a Linux host, graphics work fine so its should not be a graphics card driver issue.

In any case, this is unacceptable performance for such a beefy system so I assume something is broken, I have no idea how to figure out what though. I also have a work laptop that runs a Win 10 guest almost flawlessly so I have a pretty good idea how good it can be.
