    <description>&lt;P&gt;Running VMWare Workstation Pro 16.2.1.16457 on Windows 11 Pro 21H2&amp;nbsp;22000.348&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I set the file permissions to allow a script to copy my Virtual Machines to a back up location.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;However, when a VM is launched the "VMX" file permissions&amp;nbsp; remove all permissions except "Authenticated Users"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This is repeatable. The VM&amp;nbsp; must be launched for this behavior to exhibit.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;How do I stop VMWare Workstation from changing the file permissions of my VM's?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thank you for your time.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Sorry to say, but I don't think you can change that behavior.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You'll have to script your way around it.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;One trick I used in the past at a customer -for a completely unrelated issue- was to have a script run via task scheduler that changes the permissions on files just before running a copy script.&lt;/P&gt;
