Export OVA/OVF Hash

Has anyone found a way to get around the OVA export SHA256 problem.

I create software OVA images on VM Workstation Pro for import into ESXi and I set the hardware compatibility to Workstation 11 + ESXi server which support ESXi 6.0+ but the image it produces isn't actually compatible because it adds a SHA256 hash and ESXi 6.5 errors on import, meaning I have to use the ovftool to convert the hash every time.

Is there a hidden setting anywhere to change the hash system used or even better Workstation should really work out the Hash needed based on the Hardware compatibility?
