Hi Jpsmith8488,

VMware Horizon can help user to access the remote desktop. From description above, looks like you are finding a solution to use Mac Client to access the Physical Linux OS. Horizon can support physical Windows machine as the remote desktop now, but not on physical Linux OS. You can get more information from below link:

Using Horizon to Access Physical Windows Machines

https://techzone.vmware.com/resource/using-horizon-access-physical-windows-machines#architecture-and-design

I would greatly appreciate advice about which VMware products I should install on the M1 Mac and on the remote Linux PC. Both systems are on the same LAN behind a Dell Sonicwall firewall and both have functioning SSL-DPI certificates. I would like to use the Mac to access the remote Linux PC.

Thank you

Hi jpsmith8488

If you only want a Mac client access to a Linux PC, I suggest you to use the horizon linux desktop with VADC mode. You can refer to https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Horizon/2203/view-agent-direct-connection-plugin-administration/GUID-BF4F88B3-D747-42F2-AE76-42142522C73E.html for more information

Best Regards

Kai
