I have tried to install VMware-Horizon-Client-2012-8.1.0-17349995.exe/

I've tried with admin rights

I've tried without HTML5 MMR package/

I have no other VMWare packages installed.

I've switched off the virus/firewall.

I have checked ".NET Framework 4.8 or a later update is already installed on this computer."

I have updated settings to hosts in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc hosts to include

127.0.0.1 view-localhost # view localhost server

I've also changed permissions so every man and his dog can do stuff to it.

I've tried

As your first point of contact, what did your IT team say when you asked them about the problem?

My IT department are not my first point of contact for this particular install.

And even if they were Scott they would not be available at the weekend.

Out of interest Scott, I see you are a moderator, but I don't see that any other person who has asked a question on this forum has had the kind of response you sent me and I wonder what prompted it?

Yes I do believe I have read them all!

I eventually got a round the problem installing 4.7. not the solution I prefer but one that does the job!

N8talie, did you check out the Windows 'event viewer' for any errors. I found additional info on there beyond what the install log provided (Event viewer->Windows Logs->System) which provided a more info on the root cause of the failure. However, like you I couldn't find a workable solution but was able to load V5.2 successfully but no version newer than that. I also have an open thread describing my own issues and error messages.

This line in the log file could indicate a problem with the installed version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable:

Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Horizon View Client\vmwHorizonClientController64.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.

Could you try installing latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 and see if that resolves the issue?

I have the same issue and attempted the same fixes. This is after my VDI stopped working mid-day and I uninstalled it. When I tried to reinstall it (after updating Windows and rebooting) it would not install.

I had the same issue this morning and managed to fix it! After all trying all the obvious things I noticed Adobe CC wasn't working on my machine as well. Luckily this gives a much more usefull error because when I tried to launch it it reported that msvcp140.dll and vcruntime140.dll were missing.

To fix this I used the repair option on all the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable packages that are current;y installed on my system and supported this option (go to Control Panel > Uninstall a program > select the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package > Click on Change > Choose Repair, repeat for all packages that can be "changed")

After this I was able to run the VMware Horizon Client installation successfully (and my Adobe CC installation resumed working as well as a bonus).

I can confirm the repair of all C++ redistributable packages worked in getting VMWare Horizon Client 2013 installed to a Windows 10 Enterprise system. I repaired 2013 x86 and x64 as well as the 2015-2019 x86 and x64 packages through the old school control panel. Running the Horizon Client installer right after (no reboot) worked.
