topic Loss of network connectivity in bridged mode on sleep [Fusion / Big Sur / Ubuntu 18 guest] in VMware Fusion Discussions

Help! I have had network connectivity problems since I upgraded to 12.2 (on Big Sur 11.6).

I only run Ubuntu 18.04 LTR guests.

Internet sharing simply does not work, guest does not "see" the interface. After googling I found out that this is a Mac OS issue, and Bridged Networking is the way to go. So current configuration is bridged networking, physically wired to the router (no WiFi).

Even then, in order to actually activate the connection after a reboot and login, I need to run "sudo dhclient -v -r ens33; sudo dhclient -v ens33". This gets me online as long as the mac doesn't go to sleep for inactivity. When it does, the connection freezes, and even issuing the same commands does not help.

I have found a workaround to wake it up: Settings -> Network Adapter , and then I toggle the Bridged Networking mode, from "Autodetect" to "USB 10/100/1000 LAN", or viceversa, whichever was active when the mac when to sleep. This brings the guest back online.

Needless to say, this is a drag. Is this a known bug? Is there a better workaround to keep the connection from dropping on sleep?
