Q: why does vcenter sendmail fail?

I would like to receive some alerts by email but it does not work. There seem to be several possible root causes, but I don't understand where exactly it faisl and what I need to fix to get it to work. Here is the log:

Did you find any resolution to this? I am having the same issue and am curious if it has to do with vCenter not having a SSL cert signed by an external CA.
