I've checked the logs and do not see anything there. also Under administration in vcenter I have both smart card and user+pass checked. I also checked the config.xml to verify that vcenter will request client certificate. It's set to true. It seems that none of the settings changed but smart card authentication stopped working. It doesn't even prompt for the cert.
