Aloha,

Up until recently our SAN only had fast (Tier 1) storage. We recently added a new drawer to the SAN of slower (Tier 2) storage..

The idea was to move all data drives/LUNs (except for SQL) to Tier 2. Most of our data drives were RDMs in physical compatibility

mode. We wanted to not only move the data LUNs to Tier 2, but we wanted to convert the RDMs to VDSKs.

Long story short, we converted the RDMs to virtual compatibility mode. We then SVMotioned the data to the Tier 1 (again SQL)

or Tier 2 data LUNs. This went well except now the new VDSKs appear both in the desired Data LUN and with the VM itself (where

the original RDM pointers were stored). Can someone please enlighten me why this may have happened?

Mahalo,

            Bill
