Hi,

We're having some administrative alerts on several adapters that never get cleared automatically. For example I currently have about 7 alerts "Object are not receiving data from adapter instance" for several vCenters and a storage array for which data is being collected. When opening the alert I see "Started on: Mar 10, 2023 9:27:47am, updated: 10:29:29am".

Though when I go to the adapter through "data sources" - "integrations", the adapter shows "OK". I can edit the connection, click "test connection" and all seems fine. I can image that in our busy network or with snapshots being made of the vCenter it self, the vCenter doesn't always respond as quickly as expected. But since it clearly is collecting data, I would have expected the alert to solve itself.

Am I wrong in thinking this?
Gabrie

How about other metrics collected from that adapter. Are those collected perfectly? For example if you look at the Badge|Health metric. Is that collected every 5min or are there "dots" missing?

That same line shows the name of those resources. Are there any resources shown which got deleted in the vCenter?

Hello,

Greetings,

Looks like this is a false alert and is still active.

We have two options:

1. Managing fault alerts in vRealize Operations Manager:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/74781

2. Truncate / Delete Alerts directly from database
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2123921

If the alerts are genuine and still active then it will be generated again in the next data collection cycle i.e. after 5 minutes.

Then we will see from which adapter we are seeing the alerts and then start troubleshooting otherwise it will be difficult to identify false and real alerts

Aha... now I got you. This is expected to happen with VDI VMs. What vROps does is create unique ID and work based on those IDs.

So VDI01 could get an ID something like 0000-0000-00001. Then when that VDI01 gets deleted and recreated its ID could be 0000-0000-12345. And thus the alert about missing object is valid.

You could try to play around with object history under Global Settings: List of Global Settings (vmware.com)
