Put the objects in maintenance. Objects in maintenance do not consume a license.
You can use the combination of custom groups, policies and maintenance schedules to keep those objects in maintenance.

Kind regards,

Rick

Was I helpful?

Hi,
I'm trying to exclude objects from being counted towards our licensing of vRealize Operations Manager 8.10 but it doesn't seem to work like I expected.

I created a custom group named: "LicGrp-Clusters-01". The group has three rules, two of which include Virtual Machines based on relationship descendant is <clustername> in hosts and clusters. And I have one criteria that includes virtual machines for which tag category is "vROPs-licentie" and tag is "Exclude-vROPs". When I check this group it contains 1105 objects, all virtual machines. All matching as I expected.

In Administration -> Licensing, I edit the "Product Licensing" group and scroll down to "Always Exclude" and then select the "LicGrp-Clusters-vcdvc015" group. I've waited over an hour, did some refreshes, but the number of objects in the unlicensed group doesn't go above 25 licenses and not the expected 1105 objects.

Been browsing through quite some posts and docs, but can't find a solution on this.

Thank you for replying.
The issue was that I should not have added the group to "always exclude" since that is a static membership. I now used the rules like "xxx" is member of "yyy" and that will get refreshed regularly.
