If I'm awake (I'm on EDT) I'll be there as well. Otherwise it'll have to wait until the next morning.

I've already started editing the unofficial Companion while awaiting the new version.

And for those who are running the 2023 Tech Preview. you should be prepared to install the new version.

At 8:30 PDT: echo "complaints about tech preview" > /dev/null

Error 134 when downloading VMWare Fusion Tech Preview 2023

So let me just say that I am NOT tech savvy at all and I probably sound like an old granny in this post that doesn't know how to use a computer so just bear with me please. I'll try to be as thorough as possible in this post, but if you need more information please ask me and I will gladly give it to you. I'm using a 2020 MacBook Air with an M1 chip that's running MacOS Big Sur 11.6. I don't have any fancy external chip things running on it, and pretty much everything technical on it is just factory settings.

Anyways, I'm downloading the VMWare Fusion Tech Preview 2023 to run Windows on my Mac and I've been very carefully following a tutorial on how to do it. I get to the part where I put "./ w11arm_esd2iso" in the terminal window thing and it asks me if I want to create an ISO containing Windows 11 ARM Home/Professional editions by entering "h","e", or "q". Anyways, I hit "e" to create a Professional/Enterprise ISO and I get this error message as soon as I hit enter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please wait while information is being downloaded from Microsoft for the Professiona/Enterprise) ESDs
dyld: Symbol not found: __ZNKSt3__115basic_stringbufIcNS_11char_traitsIcEENS_9allocatorIcEEE3strEv
Referenced from: /Users/mygmail@gmail.com/Desktop/Build/./bin/aria2c (which was built for Mac OS X 14.0)
Expected in: /usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib

./w11arm_esd2iso: line 97: 61266 Abort trap: 6 aria2c --dir="$wDir" --out=catalog.cab --download-result=hide "https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?linkid=2156292"
[ERROR] Catalog download failed with error 134

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know why I keep getting this Error 134 whenever I try to download it? It's happened everytime I've run the command and I have no idea how I'm messing up and it's very frustrating. Is there anything I can do to fix the error and stop it from happening? Any help is very appreciated.

I currently have two Windows 11 x64 ARM virtual machines created with the same ISO installer, one of which correctly shows my MacBook Pro M2 Max camera, whereas the second does not. I noted the driver includes usbvideo.sys, and so I right-clicked on its associated usbvideo.inf file in the affected machine and successfully installed the hardware but it's still not displaying in my device list, not even as a hidden item. I've also tried reinstalling VMware Tools v12.3.0 to no effect. Is there anything I can do to get the FaceTime camera recognised?

With the latest VMware Tools (12.3.0 - thanks for the tip, Technogeezer!) I was finally able to run IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, a DirectX 8 Windows aviation simulator, in a VMware Windows 11 x64 ARM (MacBook Pro M2 Max Host macOS Sonoma host) virtual machine. The frame rates at 1920 x 1080 resolution are comparable to that in Parallels Desktop 19.0, however I cannot for the life of me get the USB Logitech joystick to connect. In Parallels Desktop (and CrossOver 23.5.0) the joystick is recognised immediately once plugged in, and drivers are automatically installed by Windows to enable calibration.

In the Fusion Tech Preview virtual machine no matter which USB plug I try, either connected to an external display or to the MacBook Pro itself, the joystick isn't being shown in the Settings panel. Has anyone had any luck with USB devices that weren't automatically recognised by the virtual machine, perhaps by modifying a Fusion configuration file? Other USB accessories, such as external hard drives or DVD players, are listed and available once plugged in (although the external hard disk formatted in APFS doesn't display in File Explorer).

Thanks for your help!

Hello, thank you for this wonderful VM. I‘m running the Tech Preview on an M2 MBAir under Sonoma with Win11arm and it‘s a dream - super stable, super fast, just fantastic.

I set the VM to pass the energy status from Mac to VM. However, I see no energy options in the Windows control panel, and there is no battery indicator in the Windows task bar. It seems as if Windows (or the VM) is actually ignoring the energy information from the Mac. Is that so?

Have a great day, and - again - thank you very much,

Karl

2023 Tech Preview works on Sonoma. Your virtual machine that works today on the Tech Preview/Ventura combination will continue to work on the Tech Preview/Sonoma combination.

Hi. I have an M2 MacBook Air running the latest version of Ventura and am running the tech preview. I have a Windows 11 virtual machine that is working great. If I upgrade to Sonoma, am I likely to run into issues with it? I can't find any information about the tech preview's compatibility with Sonoma. Thanks.
