VMware Cloud on Dell EMC - Technical Overview

VMware Cloud on Dell EMC is a complete solution for data center infrastructure. It is based on industry-leading virtualization software technology from VMware and proven hyper-converged hardware from Dell EMC. The software components include VMware vSphere compute, VMware vSAN all-flash storage, and VMware NSX-T networking and security. Dell EMC foundational elements include VxRail hyper-converged infrastructure appliances and high-performance top of rack network switches.

The service delivery hardware is factory integrated inside a standard data center rack enclosure that can be positioned alongside other racks in a customer data center, remote office, and edge compute location. Customers can choose between 110-volt or 220-volt power circuits. VMC on Dell EMC Achieves ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Certification

VMware’s VMC on Dell EMC solution has just achieved a certificate of compliance for ISO/IEC 27001. This adds to our growing list of security certifications including SOC2 type-1. ISO/IEC is a combination of two international standards bodies: the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). These two standards organizations meet, debate, vote for, and publish compliance guidelines. These guidelines can then be leveraged by an accredited auditor.

VMware Cloud on Dell EMC is a service that brings the VMware Managed Cloud (VMC) to your on-premises edge and data center locations. The service encompasses hardware, software, and all required licenses and support including hardware break-fix. You subscribe to the service through the VMware Cloud on Dell EMC portal and the hardware gets delivered to your location as a rack appliance. The rack comes with a fully configured SDDC infrastructure and requires an external network and power connectivity to activate the SDDC.

VMware Cloud on Dell EMC - Hybrid Linked Mode

Hybrid Linked Mode links your VMware Cloud on Dell EMC vCenter Server instance with an on-premises vCenter Single Sign-On domain. You can configure the Hybrid Linked Mode between VMware Cloud on Dell EMC SDDC and on-premises SDDC either directly or through vCenter Cloud Gateway to manage both the SDDCs in a single user interface. This can also be used to support VM migration across these SDDCs.

Before you can use Hybrid Linked Mode with VMware Cloud on Dell EMC, you must configure your on-premises vCenter to enable single sign-on. For more information, see vSphere Authentication with vCenter Single Sign-On.

If you link your cloud vCenter Server to a domain that contains multiple vCenter Server instances linked using Enhanced Linked Mode, all those instances are linked to your VMware Cloud on Dell EMC SDDC.

You can access your SDDC from this page anytime and continue with the ordering process flow.
