Hi,

we tried to deploy MySQL and RabbitMQ, but with both we got the Message: "failed to apply resource: Secret/vcd-ds-workloads/bugtest-credentials , error: data values must be of type string"

Workaround is to put the password in Quotes, so the string is as string recognized and not as a variablename or something like that.

PS: The problem occurs, when i try to use a password that starts with a number. If the password starts with an letter everything is fine.

Make sure that "secretgen-controller" is installed in your cluster if it's not provisioned by default.

check the result of `kubectl get pkgi -A | grep secretgen`

Did this error only happen after DS installed? If yes, will this error disappear after DS uninstalled?

when we try to create an Instance, and want to set a password with "!" or "%" as the first character, the create button is greyed out.
Other special characters seems to work, but have not tested them all.

We are curently testing the Data Solution Beta.
One issue we run into, is with the cert-manager-cainjector when delpoyig:

We are running CAPVCD Cluster with TKGm 1.5.4 v1.22.9+vmware.1

Seems we are running a toooo new k8s version for your image (lough). look at "v1beta1" (hmmm - smile)

kubectl api-versions (pipe) grep admissionregistration

admissionregistration.k8s.io/v1

For DS 1.1 beta, you can test these solution versions:

VMware RabbitMQ 1.3, 1.4
VMware MySQL 1.6
VMware Postgres 1.9

We haven't tested other versions yet. But if you have need for earlier versions, we can add to test as well. Thanks!

Specific package versions for DS 1.1 beta?

Is there a recommendation for specific Tanzu package versions to be used in the beta for DS 1.1 beta or do we just use the latest published version of each package (Postgres, MySQL, RabbitMQ)?

I know in the 1.0 beta for RabbitMQ the documentation stated using a specific package version (1.3.0) so keen to understand the guidance for 1.1 beta.

Hi Darcy,

The API configs from that document (including VCDKE Config Entity and VCDKE Config Entity Instance) have already been applied to this environment to run the (earlier) CSE 4 beta. This appears to be something new/broken with the updated CSE 4 beta available in the Data Solutions downloads.

Thanks for the feedback, as checked from CSE team, you saw this error because the VCDKEConfig does not exist yet in VCD environment. Would you please try the instructions inside Provider Workflow doc https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Cloud-Director-Container/Provider-Workflow/ta-p/2918785?attachment-id=109103?

Please create VCDKE Config Entity Type and VCDKE Config Entity Instance.

Please let me know if the problem is still there.

Error starting cse.service from CSE 4.0 beta build 20547633

Attempting to deploy CSE 4.0 beta with Data Solutions beta, the download of cse in the Data Solutions beta is updated from the build available in the CSE 4.0 beta topic.

When deploying the build from the Data Solutions downloads (build 20547633), the deployment works fine (it now asks for an API key for the CSE service account rather than the password, but that's fine). However, the cse service fails to start on the appliance:

panic: failed to read VCDKEConfig RDE with the provider credentials: [error retrieving the VCD-KE config from the RDE: [<nil>]]

Any ideas on the best way to troubleshoot this? I'm guessing that the API updates made to get the earlier 4.0 beta CSE working need updating for this later build?
