Hi,

I'm working with ESXi-7.0 U3d Build 19482537 in a stretched cluster for two sites.
In one site I have the driver ixgben 1.8.9.0-1OEM and 1.7.1.35 in the second site.
The Image is a custom image for DELL.

I would like to know if the driver has been added by DELL or is a standard from VMware.

Centreon monitoring issue after restarting hostd and vpxa services

Hi,

To troubleshoot another problem. I had to restart the hostd and vpxa services like this : /etc/init.d/<service> restart.

But by restarting those Management services, Our Centreon (Nagios) isn't able anymore to query all the VM's on Network and Memory information. It respond : "CHECK_VMWARE_API.PL CRITICAL - HOST-VM MEM Unknown error" or "CHECK_VMWARE_API.PL CRITICAL - HOST-VM NET Unknown error". Yet the monitoring of the CPU work as intended for example.

Have you any idea to deal with ?

Our Environement : 2 ESX 6.0.0 in cluster mode (Operation done on the slave one), Centreon 2.7.13, check_vmware_api.pl script to monitor.

Trying to remove vmware tools

I've been trying to remove VMware-Tools-windows-11.0.0-14549434. from a windows 10 machine without any luck. The deinstall starts finishes as everything went ok however the program isn't removed . Seems like it silently fails. Tried powershell scripts to remove it nothing wants to remove this version.

When deploying a VM from a template, it does not change Hard Disk UUID

Hi all. There is a problem.
I made a virtual machine template.
If I expand the VM from the template without "Customize this virtual machine's hardware", then UUID Hard Disk changes to a new one, if I use "Customize this virtual machine's hardware", I add CPU/RAM , then UUID of the Hard Disk does not change.

In my vmware vsphere 6.5 i have installed 3 virtual machine with ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 for DNS, LOG and MRTG.

My DNS machine is working fine with 18.04 but the LOG (18.04 Ubunutu OS) and MRTG (20.04 UBUNTU os) freeze continiously like 6-10 hours. When they work they run fanstasticly, but when it freeze then i have to manually reboot every time. Any solutions..?

New Lab Manuals Posted - Distribute to Students

All,

New lab manuals have been posted on the Documents page. These are the most up-to-date manuals available for all courses and will NOT match what is in Gilmore/Vitalsource. Please distribute these manuals to the students and advise them to use this instead of the one in Vitalsource.

If your ILT class is provisioned via VLP (EMEA), the students should use that manual, as it is up-to-date and slightly different from the ILT versions available in the Community or the outdated ILT ones from Vitalsource.

I know this is a bit confusing and somewhat annoying, but given our current processes, it is impossible to ensure that Vitalsource will have the most up-to-date book available. You should be periodically checking the communities for manual updates, as these are the best resources available for the students.

Please share this information with your fellow VCIs, as it is clear from the document views that the entire community is not getting the message regarding these manuals.

External PSC Conversion to Embedded & Decommission steps!!!

Try to Converge your external PSC to Embedded as mentioned in below steps.

1. Please mount vCenter ISO with same version as you have on vCenter/PSC.

2. Click on "Home" >>> Menu >>>Click on "Administration"

3. Click on "System Configuration"

4. Select vCenter "vCenter Server with external Platform Services Controller"

5.Click on "CONVERGE TO EMBEDDED"

6. It will give below warning:-

"vCenter Server downtime

Converging this node will restart all the vCenter Server services on it making it inaccessible until the operation is complete"

7. Click on proceed

8. Enter SSO (Single Sign-On) User Name & Pwd

9. Don't change "Skip AD Join"

10. Acknowledge it .

11. Click on "CONVERGE"

12. Monitor it for few min.

13. It will give vCenter Server downtime alert (The vCenter Server services will be restarted and might take a few minutes to complete. You will be logged out during this operation. Monitor the progress of the convergence from the CLI or any linked vCenter Server)

Be Patience!!!

14. Wait for sometime to come your vCenter back check via ssh with below cmd (it shouldn't show services in "StartPending")

service-control --status --all

Stopped:

15. When all services are come up then login back in your vCenter via https://vCenterIP or FQDN/

16. Go back to below options:-

Administration >>> System Configuration >> and you will see that conversion has been completed.

"vCenter Server with embedded Platform Services Controller"

17. Now Select PSC Controller >> DECOMMISSION PSC.

Alert ##### vCenter Server downtime (Decommissioning this node will restart all the vCenter Server services. The vCenter Server will be inaccessible until the operation is complete)

18. Click on Proceed.

19. Click on "View Thumbprint" >> Enter "SSO Credentials" >> Acknowledge it >> Click on "DECOMMISSION"

20. Monitor it for few min.

21. On 50% it will give message like this.

"External Platform Services Controller node shutdown successful"

Be Patience!!!

22. vCenter Services will go down now and you need to wait to come services up

via ssh >>> service-control --status --all

23. When all services come up, login in vCenter again via https://vCenterIP or FQDN/

24. Validate only vCenter Component will show under.

Administration >>> System Configuration >> and you will see vCenter with Embedded only .

"vCenter Server with embedded Platform Services Controller"

That's it

1. Students will generate any necessary SaaS credentials on their own using a tool now staged on the student vAPPs.
Courses listed for the Dec 23^rd launch will continue to receive credentials from Adam Esch until they’re release. Afterwards, these courses will go through the same workflow as the rest of the labs.
Lab support for Workspace ONE should be directed to Edu Lab Support (edulabsupport@vmware.com).
