Why VMDK can be decompressed with 7z?

I'm developing a tool to decompress vmdk with native golang,

but as far as I've read the VMDK specs, I don't think I can decompress with 7z. Please tell me why it can be unpacked in 7Z.

While working with one of the customer , I came across a use case in which customer wanted to have Remote PC access for Shift Workers . While discussing Internally , I found many of my colleagues also had the same query on how do we leverage VMware Horizon for Shift Workers.

Here is the small demo that I have uploaded that also demonstrates a quick configuration on how shift workers can be given access to Remote PC

.vmdk file cannot be opened

Hello,

I have moved from Virtualbox to VMware. My problem right now is that I don't want to create a new VM but instead move the system from VB to VMware. The system is saved as a .vmdk file. Thing is that I can add a new hard disk but apparently not a .vmdk file. I got 2 of them: "name of Virtualbox system".vmdk and "name of Virtualbox system"-flat.vmdk. It accepts the normal .vmdk file but unfortunately not the -flat.vmdk. The "flat" file is needed because that is the real VM file (since it's 100GB and that's the actual size of my system)

I do hope that someone can help me out. Thanks in advance!

MAC did software update no windows now

MAC did software update now VMware windows log in screen won't load its just black..... It did this a year ago when i had a mac software update please help.

Blanks in the root password

Hi,

I have a issue about the root password.

In the versions of VMWare ESXi 5.x servers, when changing the root user's password, I have entered blank spaces, the system has not given any errors, but from that moment, I could no longer log in with the root user, through of any tool. It always gives an invalid user error or password.

In the rest of the users, it admits the blanks and I can enter without problems.

With this, several questions arise:

- In the root user's password, is the white space changed by any symbol?

- Are blank spaces ignored?

- Is the password invalid and therefore the root user?

.....

What is the behavior of the system in this case?

vCenter Cluster HA Help

Please can some help with my vCenter 6.7 cluster HA that doesn't seem to be an issue with the configuration? I have done the configuration per the documentation, however when I power down the Master host, the VM does not get powered off and on to the available host. I'll appreciate any assistance as I am not sure what I am doing wrong or I am missing....thank you in advance.

vROPs 7.0 - Cluster CPU contention is high

We have identified the cluster CPU contention is high and the workload shows always busy .

I have checked the ESXi hosts utilization , all the host CPU workload are below 50% .

Do you have any idea how to troubleshoot the cluster CPU contention further.

Recently I have been unable to load any VMware instances because of the error below. It pops up as the instance is starting up and then once I press the "OK" button or "X" button it shuts off the VMware application.

I currently have VMWare Workstation 14, running on Windows 10 Pro.

It is a pretty large instance containing Kepware and RSlogix files and RSLinx and SoftLogix.

I am able to provide the log files and any other necessary information if it helps.

What is EVC (Enhanced vMotion Compatibility)

EVC is short for Enhanced vMotion Compatibility. EVC allows you to migrate virtual machines between different generations of CPUs.

EVC provide enhanced vMotion compatibility. With this feature in VMware vSphere virtualization, Virtual Machines(VMs) could be move between ESXi hosts on different CPUs.

With EVC we could mix older and newer server generations in the same cluster and be able to migrate virtual machines with vMotion between these hosts. This makes adding new hardware into existing infrastructure easier and helps extend the value of existing hosts. With EVC, full cluster upgrades can be achieved with no virtual machine downtime. Also we could migrate virtual machines to new hosts and retire older hosts.

Some more EVC Feature

1. EVC would be support only CPUs from a single vendor in the cluster.

2. EVC could not allow AMD and Intel CPUs in same cluster.

Overview (VMware):- Below mentioned steps will provide an overview of the VMware vSphere Host Direct Console User Interface (DCUI).

The DCUI is a menu-based interface that is accessed from the host console.
Used to configure ESXi running on vSphere hosts.
Once connected with vSphere host console on top we could see the information of ESXi version along with hardware details of ESXi host.
And in bottom we could see that host name and IP address of that ESXi host.
We could also we F2 ---Customize System/View logs and F12 shut down / Restart.
