You need to have at least two logical CPU's to have a SMP VM.
But it is recommended that you have two or more physical processors to use this feature.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly but you do realise that having multiple virtual processors won't give you anymore 'processing power' that is already available within your system.
What it will do is divide the available 'processing power' from the real cpu between the virtual processors. Due to the overheads involved this will result in a 'net loss' rather than the 'net gain' you seem to be aiming at.
