I would like to be able to hide virtual switches that have port groups defined for them. This would prevent accidentally attaching a VM to the switch (where it would not get any VLAN tagging) rather than to the port group.
I'd also like to set permissions on virtual switches, port groups, and VMFS volumes. For example, I could have a machine group called "Project 1" that I grant VM Admin rights to. I want those users to be able to create VMs, but only be able to use certain VMFS volumes and certain port groups. I want to hide the rest of the resources from them.
I too would like to hide VMFS volumes. I create a local VMFS volume dedicated to the swap file since all my vmdks are on a san. At no time will a vm disk ever reside on the local volume. It would be nice to hide this.
