I have some old console messages that show up, is there a way to clear them off?

Thanks

Please be more specific.

What messages, where?

I have three error messages that show up on the main console screen, that have been taken care of.

The console screen I'm speaking of is where it tells you to open the esx server console, press alt-f1

I fond the error messages and they were located in /var/log/vmkernel.3 log file.

I was hoping there was a way to remove the error messages from the screen with out rebooting.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hmmm.

I really do not think there is.

If you alt-F1 login and type clear - does it clear those messages - I don't think so, but......

I'm also looking for a solution here. Did a search and found this thread, so thought I'd bring it back to the top to see if anyone has a solution. Same situation, I have some console messages that I want to clear (without rebooting of course) because I have resolved the issue. Looks as if the consoles messages are being pulled from the vmkernel log.

Hi,

Try service mgmt-vmware restart , it reloads the main screen but not sure if the logs will go. In this case where the message is from storage do a storage rescan first and then restart the mgmt service.

Thanks,

Samir

Well I thought so , can you check with the syslogd service restart , if that is also not helping then power cycle will be one of things tried out.

Thanks,

Samir

Hey, it was worth a shot. service syslog restart had no effect either.

Some times ESX also requires power cycle Smiley Wink , unless any other gentleman on this forum have some other brilliant idea to get rid of these messages.

Thanks,

Samir
