Sharing the SC NIC - How do you do it?

I have only 4 NICs, I would normally use more, but it is not an option at this customer.

No doubt I want to create a Team for my VM Network.

No doubt I want to have a Team for SC because I will be implementing VMware-HA.

VMotion does not require any redundancy.

Is it better to share the SC with VMotion or with VMs.

I'm thinking.

vSwitch0

vmnic0

vmnic2

For SC and VMotion

vSwitch1

vmnic1

vmnic3

For VMs.

Am I on the right track here.

Yep, the setup you've described looks good to me. In my opinion it's best to share it with the VMkernel/vMotion port group, as there tends to be much less traffic passing over that than the VM network.

Do you have the ability to split the nics across multiple switches? With HA this is always a good idea. You can also configure a fallback for HA to do a heartbeat across the vmnetwork nics. But these are just suggestion that I would do if the hardware was avalible. Your stup looks good only I think during the install that the SC ends up on vSwitch0 by default so you might want to use vSwitch0 for CS & vmKernel(vmotion) and use vSwitch1 for VM Network portgroups.
