    Oracle Database issue after VI Client upgrade

      Hi everyone,

      After upgrading Virtual Center 1.3.1 to VI Client 2.0.1 on our W2K3 virtual center server we were having problems attaching existing disk to a virtual machine. We would power off the VM and go through the process of adding disk but when we tried to browse the SAN volumes, the VI client would freeze not allowing us to see any of the VMDK files. However, if we chose the local_vmfs datastore we were able to see the VMDK files. That being said, we were told to upgrade the Oracle ODBC driver to 9.02.00.80. We were at Oracle ODBC driver version 9.02.00.00.

      So we upgraded the Oracle client on the virtual center server which included the 9.2.0.8 patch and updated the ODBC driver to 9.02.00.80 and when we try to test the ODBC connection we get the following error:

      Unable to connect

      SQLState=IM004

      \[Microsoft]\[ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed

      Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there a workaround? We are using VI client version 2.0.1 and our ESX servers are using ESX version 2.5.2. Thanks in advance.
