VMware Converter problem

When I try to convert a physical computer, everything works fin, until I have to select datastore. Then I get "Unable to find server".

I do have contact with the physical computer, Virtual Center and my VMware host.

I get the same error message when trying to convert to the VMware host direct.

Please help.

Had a very simalar problem converting my Citrix SG, it was on the DMZ i just had to forward some ports, its on page 20 of the PDF file(the ports needed).

Basicly just make sure that all ports are open on any firewall between VM server and guest machine.

Can it be a dns issue?

if you have connected your esx servers to virtual center using dns names when you point vmware converter to your virtual center and then you select the esx host where you want to put your new virtual machine in, it tries to contact \*directly* the ESX, so if your machine can't resolve (or can't reach the Service console's ip) converter will pop up the error.

It's almost always DNS. Try selecting your destination server by IP address or fully-qualified server name.
