I just wanted to say that even though I've only been playing with this for a few hours now, I'm quite pleased with the disk access speed compared to what I was seeing in XP with BootCamp. I do some disk-intensive work inside of VMs, and the VM is very responsive and speedy when it comes to disk access.
This may be largely due to OS X, as I've long known Workstation on Linux to be far faster and smoother for disk access than any Microsoft OS. Nevertheless, that I was kind of holding my breath to see how responsive Fusion would be.
I've not done any benchmarking of running software in the VM, but judging by my perception, I'm quite pleased.
Great job!
I want to add my performance kudos particularly in the area of networking. Networking has worked quite well early on, especially with the option to emulate an Intel e1000 virtual NIC. I get outstanding Wi-Fi G performance and superior throughput over my EVDO mobile phone.
Have you been able to have your EVDO connection available back to the Host? I too use my Verizon phone in tethered mode inside the vm, but it would be really cool to be able to share that connection with the Mac since Verizon doesn't supply VZAccess sw for it.

Sorry- I do the opposite: I share my host's connection with my guest VMs. I use a Palm Treo 700w and PowerVision (EVDO) from Sprint.
Out of curiousity (I have a Verizon 700w), what software are you using for the tether? Are you USB'd or Bluetoothed?
I, uhm, want to test Fusion performance with it -- I'm certainly posting off topic.

I'm using MobileStream's USBModem. I have both tethered USB and Bluetooth working. I prefer tethered because the connection is more reliable.
The Fusion beta EULA forbids posting performance benchmarks, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with Fusion's performance. I recommend using dslreports's mobile speed test .
