Long Distance vMotion Question

I know you must have Enterprise Plus Licensing to do a long distance vMotion. But does anyone know how many license I need for this and roughly how long would take for a vMotion of a VM?

Example" 3 host with 2 CPU on each host. Two at the main building and one at a DR site connected by AT&T fiber at 150mb with a ping TTL=54 moving a fileserver VM."

You need to be licensed for Ent+ on both sides. As to how long, impossible to state with so many variables in place. Your mileage may vary, so try it on a test VM in your environment.

Do you have shared storage between the sites ?

If not then you need to consider the following:

1. You need to copy fileserver memory

2. You need to copy fileserver storage

3. You need to sync changes made on fileserver during 1&2

Now the hardest part - check your fileserver storage activity

If your writes to disk are on average close to 150mb, then this vmotion may take really looong time
