Fusion 8

I have Fusion 8 on a MacBook with OSX Yosemite, V 10.10.5

I get a message that says: New Features are available for your virtual machine.

                                             To upgrade, power off this virtual machine and choose "Virtual Machine>Settings...>Compatibility"

I cannot proceed with using Fusion 8 until I do this upgrade. How do I power off the virtual machine and go through the rest of the upgrade process?

And while the question may have a simple answer, I am not computer literate at all, thus my reason for asking. Thank you.

If you shutdown the guest OS inside your VM (the same as you would if the OS was running on a physical PC) that should power off the VM.

If that doesn't power off your VM, follow the steps here: VMware Knowledge Base​
