Since Fusion 12 can now run without kernel extensions, are there any plans to bring it to the Mac App Store anytime soon (at least the free Player version)?
Yep, agree. Be create for Fusion 12 player to be made available on the Mac app store.

I think there are still other sandbox restrictions that would be difficult to get around.
I would not want my VMs to live in one of the cache locations in ~/Library.
Not really, at least not insurmountable restrictions.
Parallels has had a perfectly functional Mac App Store version for years now and its VMs are definitely not in ~/Library.
The big issue is licensing - the mac app store has more liberal policies than the existing licenses.
Fair enough, but at least with Fusion Player it’s not an issue.
