Is there any guest configuration needed to allow linux guest machine to dump vmcore ?

i have guest ubuntu 16,04 on VMware ESXi, 6.0.0 ,vSphere Client version 6.7.0. when i try to manually sysrq trigger kernel crash on guest vm to generate vmcore the webconsole of server just freezes and nothing happens, i have to reset the server manually to get the vm back online. i was wondering if there is something to configure on guest settings like in blacklisting modules in hyperv
