Hello all,
I would like to get some knowledge\information on deploying office365 Business Pro on mac s for a SaaS based workspace one client.
1. Based on what i can see office 365 can be deployed either using app store or using an offline installer from Microsoft. Which option is the best and what are the requirements to use app store ? Does the client need to be enrolled in VPP or any other software distribution channel from Apple ?
2. I am planing to upload a single package containing all apps to WorkSpace One UEM console but I could not find any method to deploy additional configurations such as defining update channels and other app configurations similar to Windows deployments.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Robert,
Many thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay in replying back.
I have used the methods you mentioned and did managed to get all the required settings in place. I do have one question though.
On Windows we can use the light office install via Microsoft CDN. Can we do the same for macOS, without using Appstroe or VPP ?
Dhanushkav - There isn’t an equivalent of the “light” installer for macOS (e.g. the ODT where you supply a configuration XML file). Microsoft’s only deployment options for macos are as follows:
That said, if the issue is you want to avoid all the computers downloading MS Office from the Internet, you can do one of the following:
Also, Microsoft does support hosting MAU locally on your network: https://macadmins.software/docs/MAU_CachingServer.pdf
Thanks again for your feedback.
After further discussions with the client found out that they have macs at multiple Geo locations so it would be best to host full Suite with VMware CDN , rather than a server at the client premises.
Unfortunately they do not have the APP store version.
