Question - Problems with IE8 on windows guest and Ubuntu host operating system

Hi, I am new to VMware

I have installed VMWare workstation 15 player onto a server running Ubuntu 20.04 as the host operating system

I have loaded Windows XP and the guest operating system. I know that this is old an unsupported but I need it at the moment

Windows XP has been updated automatically and I have Internet Explorer 8 running

The VMWare software has the network adapter configured for NAT

I am able to ping my internet router and other devices on my local area network

On the IE8 browser if I try to connect to "http://google.com" I get the message "There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority."

On the IE8 browser I am able to connect to www.google.co.uk and search say for "amazon" and get search results back but if I clink on the link for "https://www.amazon.co.uk" I get the message "

There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority."

I have changed various security settings in IE8 to try and overcome this issue but without success

Does anyone recognise this as being a VMware problem, or does anyone have any suggestions?

Moderator: Thread moved to the Windows guest area - not a VMware issue.

See this thread: VMware Fusion 11.5.1 Win XP Guest using IE8 can only access Google
