How to change from ethernet to wirless on vmware workstation

My laptop has an internal network card. Vmware shows only wired connection (etherenet). I bought an external wifi adapter which works well with my laptop. I can easily switch to either on my laptop. Even after I ve selected the external wifi adapter on vmware (through usb controller), it still only shows wired connection (though many had said that s the way to do it on youtube and forums). Can anyone tell me how to change it to wireless?

Greatly appreciate for the help!

The only way for a guest to see a true wireless connection is to use a USB wireless adapter, and attach that to the guest directly.  i.e. don't give the guest a virtual NIC in the configuration settings.

Thanks very much for your reply! Could you please tell me how to do it? How to not give the guest a virtual NIC in the configuration settings?

Really appreciate your help!

Just don't add one.  Or remove the one that's there.  Or just have it disconnected by default.  It really doesn't matter.
