Visual Studio 2019 App Stack

I'm trying to App Stack VS 2019 after running a working 2017 VS App Stack for a while now. However if i try to either update my existing stack to include 2019, or try a fresh build of 2019 on a stack, i get the same error every time. In the installation log:

        MSI: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages\Microsoft.VisualStudio.MinShell.Msi.Resources,version=16.0.28329.73,language=en-US\Microsoft.VisualStudio.MinShell.Msi.Resources.msi, Properties:  REBOOT=ReallySuppress ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1  MSIFASTINSTALL="7"  VSEXTUI="1"

        Return code: 110

Return code details: The system cannot open the device or file specified.

And in the log for the MSI mentioned above:

Has anyone managed to create a 2019 VS app stack, or have any recommendations on how to resolve the above issue?

Thanks!

What version of Appvolumes are you using?

If you look at the fora there is an error with one of the older version that you cannot install MSI's due to a security setting with a specific KB cumulative update that was installed. But this was last Feburari I believe.

Currently 2.14, but putting a change request in to upgrade to 2.18 and possibly 2.18.2 after that. Realise 2.14 is quite a old version now, so could be causing us problems!

Try searching for that issue on the fora, it was an issue with how Microsoft checks security for MSI installers. It has been added to the cumulative update after February last year. My guess is you don't wanna go and remove updates for this. I do believe that the issue was with version 2.14 but not 100% sure though.

MSI installation failures during appvolumes provisioning was caused due to MS Feb 2019 updates, this issue was later resolved in appvolumes 2.17.
