VM Worstation Pro Gust: Unknown device

Hi all,

for some tests, I am using different VM´s

Workstation pro 15.5.2

Vm Tools are installed

Guest machine Win7 pro

Host machine: Win10

I try to connect an USB-Ethernet adapter to the guest.

For some month it worked well.

Since some weeks I got the promt "Unknown device", when I connect the USB device to the guest

Meanwhile I am working on a new laptop, but on the old one it is the same behavior.

I searched in in the KB and the web already, found a lot of entries but it seems that my problem is defferent.

Any suggestions are very welcome

Thx in advance

Best regards

Hi all,

it´s me again.

I solved it now. Honestly it is a kind of workaround.

I use now a Win10 guest and switched the USB controller (VM ware) to USB3.0.

Now it is working.

On USB2.0, it was the same behaviour, as described.

Hi all,

I never stop trying........

I started the VM Workstation with admin rights today.

When I try to connect the network adapter, I got this message now:

"The device 'Realtek USB 10/100/1000 LAN' was unable to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be made to connect this device to the best available host controller. This might result in undefined behavior for this device."

What is the "ideal host controller"?

Any suggestions are very welcome.

Thx in advance
