unable to upgrade from player 15.5.1 to 15.5.2

never have had any install issues over last 8-9 years of player.  Attempted to upgrade to 15.5.2 today and got this message. tried to direct to .msi in common files with no benefit

windows 10 pro, no antivirus other that windows defender. commodo firewall

VMware Knowledge Base

opened windows 10 regedit to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\ and found the vmware folder, deleted entire folder, and was able to upgrade to 15.5.5 from 15.5.1 and vmware works as designed
