It is not clever to use obscure image formats to post screenshots - use png or jpg - can open HEIC on Windows

(Not the original poster but I can open an HEIC file.)

It shows a VMware Fusion window for a closed VM, with a sheet overlaying the top of the window, containing the following error message:

Unable to open file "/Users/Pete/iCloud Drive (Archive)/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Local Test/PC.vmwarevm/New XP-0-000006.vmdk":

The system cannot find the file specified

As a first step, open the VM's folder/bundle, and check whether any of the required .vmdk files are missing.

Each virtual disk/Snapshot usually consists of a descriptor .vmdk file, and several data files (...-s00x.vmdk).

As an example, the data files for  "New XP-0-000006.vmdk" are named "New XP-0-000006-s001.vmdk", "New XP-0-000006-s002.vmdk", ...

If any of the files are missing, then please provide a complete file list - i.e. the output of ls -l from the command line - for the files in the VM's folder/bundle.
