VSAN configuration : How many VMK should be created to connect VSAN network ?

Hello,

I would like to check te actual configuration of our VSAN, and for the moment the previous engineer has configured 2 VMK per host on the VSAN network.

Today I add a new host into the cluster but I got a ping issue between this new host and the master HA host.

S I wondering if it's not better to configure only 1 vmk per host for vsan network

Thank you for your advies Smiley Happy

Hello ASPfduprez

Welcome to Communities.

While it is supported to configure multiple vmk for vSAN, it is not recommended, more info on why here:

VMware Knowledge Base

Furthermore, judging by the naming convention, it looks to be set up wrong (e.g. both vmk in same subnet).

One vMKernel adapter is fine for vSAN.

If you have ping issue then check MTU size on "Physical Layer/DvSwitch/VMkernel Adapter", it should be same on all places, re-validate that and give a try.
